Hatteras weekend....

Headed to OBX for a long weekend, hoping for wind and ready to catch up with some NC friends! As I drove south, I headed straight into a warm south wind....and as I arrived I found everyone exhausted from a long thursday of riding sound-side. I hoped this was to stick around for me!! Couple beers at Mojo's and then to bed in a tent....a tent that would eventually get pounded by one killer thunderstorm at 5am. Mike and I giggled with each bolt of lightning, as Hans thought the tent was gonna cave in during the monsoon! It was hysterical!! The rain subsided as the day progressed and we headed down to kite point. Storms continued to roll in, and it was never safe for us to ride....as it cleared, the wind totally took a crap! Rigged 9m, 10m and then 14m. NO DICE! Such a bummer!!

Beers and dinner back in Waves....followed by some kiting DVD's. The next morning, we all awoke to calm winds, and a skunked forecast. BUMMER! Packed up the gear and headed to kite point with beers and lunch. Power nap in the sunshine...then to Frisco for some surfing and south-side time with Brit, Trip and Nuzzo. Great surf....paddled with the dolphins, surfed some 20 foot waves, and laughed at my dry hair for most of the session. Even got to define a few degrees of neck-burn. Rawhide, Naugahyde, Formaldehyde....good to know, great to avoid. The surf session was followed by continued work on our tan competition, snacks, beers and sandcastles by Ellie. As the evening approached we packed up our gear and headed into Buxton for one classy dinner. Mike decided to be the fat-boy of the evening and PIG OUT. We dashed across the street and caught the icecream girls as they were closing up shop....delish finish to our evening with homemade frozen treats! Barely could stay awake driving north to Waves after our southside holiday. Lots of stars out on the beach....chilly out there, but worth it!

Sunday....no wind again. Got the paddleboards and went for a nice paddle through the slick on a glassy in the warm sunshiney morning. Relaxed and lounged around Real and packed up the gear. A few more moments in the sunshine, and headed on Rt.12 N to get back to Nap Town. A weekend filled with good friends, great surf, beautiful beaches and lots of fun!! Dont always have to kite to have a great time! :)
